The graduate program in Film/Video/Digital Imaging equips students for careers across various film, video, and digital imaging fields where the school specializes (particularly in moving image studies), while also preparing them for doctoral-level studies. Students following the Moving Image Studies path complete research theses that explore theoretical and historical aspects of visual media. While this M.A. track serves as valuable preparation for educators in fields like English and humanities who incorporate visual media into their work, it frequently leads to Ph.D. programs.

The Moving Image Production focus within the MA program remains under the School of Film, Media & Theatre but mainly supports our Dual-Degree initiative. Prospective students passionate about filmmaking who didn't complete Georgia State's undergraduate Dual-Degree program should consider applying to the MFA in Digital Filmmaking with a Filmmaking concentration.
