The Master of Education in Special Education equips students with comprehensive expertise and practical abilities needed to teach children with disabilities, preparing them for roles as master educators or advanced service professionals. Most participants in this program are current educators, behavior specialists, instructional mentors, or related service providers with prior experience in special education settings, including public schools, private institutions, or alternative learning environments.
This M.Ed. program does not grant teaching certification. Prospective students should already hold teaching credentials. Those pursuing initial certification may explore our M.A.T. in Special Education instead.
2020 Program Update: We've launched an exciting initiative to attract, educate, and assist graduate students pursuing their M.Ed. in Special Education. Project BEES participants will develop skills to support children with significant needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), through ABA-informed, research-backed methods while benefiting from mentorship and career growth opportunities. Known as Project Behavioral Early Education Scholars (BEES), this initiative offers financial assistance for degree candidates. Discover more about this funding option.
