The University of Maryland's College of Education offers research-driven and practice-focused programs addressing diverse educational challenges. Its departments—Counseling, Higher Education and Special Education; Human Development and Quantitative Methodology; and Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership—feature distinguished faculty, staff, students, and alumni dedicated to promoting equity and social justice. The College trains future educators, counselors, psychologists, administrators, researchers, and specialists who serve learners of all ages in schools, community organizations, and higher education institutions.
The Master of Arts (MA) in Special Education requires 36 credit hours. Students can choose a thesis track for their MA degree. The program accommodates both part-time and full-time students, with continuous enrollment being mandatory.
The Master’s of Arts program requires a 3.0 undergraduate GPA and the submission of the Miller Analogies Test or the Graduate Record Examination test scores at or above the 40th percentile rank.
A TOEFL score of 100 is required for international students who are not native speakers of English.
