Organic chemistry focuses on the composition, characteristics, and interactions of carbon-containing compounds, encompassing the analysis of chemical processes. Our chemistry professors perform advanced investigations into the molecular behavior of DNA, proteins, and sugars. Faculty in the Chemistry Department pursue cutting-edge research across diverse fields including biophysical chemistry, computer-aided molecular modeling, engineered proteins, molecular motion studies, enzymatic reactions, pharmaceutical development, genetic material architecture, magnetic resonance imaging, and fluid dynamics.

Our department boasts world-class infrastructure to enhance both research and education, featuring six advanced NMR spectrometers, six mass spectrometry systems (including liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, electrospray, and MALDI technologies with high-precision capabilities), two surface plasmon resonance instruments, a molecular synthesis lab, computational clusters, and access to institutional supercomputers. Chemistry faculty maintain exceptional levels of competitive research funding and scholarly output, regularly achieving top rankings university-wide for external research support and academic publications.
