Georgia State University's Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.E) with a Health and Physical Education major and teacher certification track equips future educators to teach physical and motor development, sports skills, fitness principles, nutrition, and wellness to students from pre-K through 12th grade. Prospective students take prerequisite courses and submit their program applications during their second-year spring semester. The curriculum includes specialized coursework in physical and health education, followed by teaching methodology classes covering four instructional environments: elementary, secondary, adapted physical education, and health education. Participants complete intensive student teaching experiences at both elementary and secondary levels (middle or high school) for an entire semester. Graduates with teaching certification qualify for head coaching positions in Georgia's public school system.
