The Acoustics and Dynamics graduate research program focuses on investigating vibrational phenomena in structural systems, air, and water. In fluid environments, these vibrations manifest as sound, giving rise to the field of acoustics, though the underlying principles and research methodologies often overlap. A core goal across all projects is to uncover how vibrations or sound originate, transform during propagation, or are captured by detection devices. This knowledge frequently helps characterize the transmission medium. While sometimes applied to signal reduction, the research also explores scenarios where amplifying the signal proves beneficial.
