The Department of Art and Art History provides an Art major with specializations in Printmaking/Drawing, Painting/Drawing, Sculpture, or Photography/Graphic Design/New Media, along with an Art minor. The Art major requires eleven courses: ten studio courses in your chosen discipline plus one art history course. Required courses vary based on your selected concentration. With departmental approval, majors may substitute a second art history course for one studio elective. All Art majors must enroll in Senior Seminar (ARTS 4960) during their fall senior year and showcase their work in the Senior Majors Exhibition the following spring. The seminar helps students develop conceptual frameworks for their artwork and assemble professional portfolios in their specialization. The exhibition experience prepares students to present their creations effectively to both the Georgetown community and broader audiences.
