GW's chemistry graduate program promotes hands-on learning through a curriculum centered on research. Starting with in-depth coursework and specialized training across the discipline and chosen subfields, our distinguished graduate students collaborate with faculty experts on pioneering research. Focus areas span proteomics, bioanalytical techniques development, medicinal synthesis and pharmaceutical design, combustion science, battery technology and sustainable energy solutions, laser and molecular spectroscopy, nano- and biomaterials, computational modeling, coordination chemistry, and innovative inorganic frameworks.
The MS degree provides both thesis and non-thesis options to equip students for diverse professional trajectories. Every participant completes foundational coursework and comprehensive exams covering analytical, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry.
