Students pursuing a Master of Arts in Chemistry must meet all Master of Science program requirements except the thesis component. Instead of completing research and thesis credits, MA candidates need to earn extra graduate-level coursework credits.
To earn a Master of Arts in Chemistry, students must complete 32 total credits, with at least 20 credits from 600-level or higher courses. These must include CHEM 650 and CHEM 651, with remaining courses chosen in consultation with a department advisor. All Chemistry MS degree requirements apply except for the Thesis component and related credits for CHEM 695 - Directed Thesis Master's Research and CHEM 700 - Thesis, which cannot count toward the MA degree.
