Gannon University's Doctor of Physical Therapy Program aims to establish itself as a premier institution for training independent physical therapists engaged in comprehensive, team-based healthcare to achieve exceptional educational and health results. Our graduates will become sought-after professionals, acknowledged as authorities in movement, functionality, and wellness. As pioneers in the field, we'll uphold our societal obligations, advocate for compassionate patient care, and expand the profession's knowledge base.
The Physical Therapy Program at Gannon's Ruskin campus fully endorses the APTA's current vision: Physical therapists will revolutionize society by enhancing movement to elevate quality of life.
The Ruskin DPT program commits to:
Delivering top-tier graduate education in physical therapy to cultivate well-rounded practitioners, with special focus on ethical values, leadership development, diversity, and civic duty.
Educating internationally-minded professionals dedicated to community service and addressing societal healthcare requirements.
Conducting research to deepen understanding and progress healthcare science, Physical Therapy methodologies, and the training of upcoming medical professionals.
With nine decades of academic distinction as a Catholic Diocesan institution, Gannon University has expanded its offerings to include a second community-focused DPT program at its Florida campus. The Ruskin program combines innovative approaches with customized faculty-student interactions, commencing each summer term.
Students complete 40 weeks of clinical training through four full-time rotations, including potential travel opportunities. The program features five Community Health Initiatives courses that integrate service-learning projects with local community organizations.
