The CSULB Doctor of Physical Therapy program spans three years across nine consecutive semesters, including summer sessions, comprising 116 total units. Graduates who complete all coursework, clinical training, and their doctoral project become eligible to sit for the physical therapy licensure exam.
Enrollment in DPT clinical education courses is restricted to students formally admitted to the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. The clinical training component encompasses both internship placements and integrated on-site clinical rotations.
Upon program completion, graduates will possess the ability to:
Apply foundational, behavioral, and clinical science knowledge in physical therapy practice settings.
Perform entry-level physical therapy evaluations and treatments at a doctoral standard.
Employ critical analysis and evidence-based approaches in clinical judgments.
Engage effectively with diverse populations while upholding APTA's Core Values and ethical guidelines.
Maintain professional practice standards in accordance with legal and ethical requirements.
