The Advanced-Level Pharmacy Technician Certificate of Achievement (ASHP/ACPE Accredited) is a nine-month structured program accredited by the Pharmacy Technician Accreditation Commission, with admissions exclusively in the Fall Quarter. This curriculum trains students for pharmacy technician roles across diverse healthcare environments including hospitals, long-term care facilities, retail pharmacies, home healthcare services, and government institutions. Upon completion, graduates receive a Certificate of Achievement and become eligible to register with the California State Board of Pharmacy - a mandatory credential for practicing as a Pharmacy Technician.

Students may alternatively pursue a two-year Associate in Science degree for Pharmacy Technicians, incorporating general education requirements. This extended program provides transfer opportunities to four-year institutions while enhancing career prospects with deeper theoretical knowledge. General education courses can be completed either before or after obtaining the Advanced-Level Pharmacy Technician Certificate.
Foothill College additionally offers preparatory coursework meeting Pharmacy School admission prerequisites. Prospective applicants should consult with academic counselors for specific prerequisite information.

The Pharmacy Assistant (Aide/Clerk) Certificate of Achievement represents the foundational credential in a progressive pharmacy career pathway. This accelerated entry-level program creates CTE opportunities for high school students and recent graduates to enter pharmacy or related healthcare fields. Through comprehensive training and skill development, graduates gain marketable qualifications for stable pharmacy positions with career growth potential in healthcare.
The Basic Pharmacy Technician Certificate is a nine-month part-time program offering stackable credentials for pharmacy career advancement. This CTE-aligned program develops essential skills for entry-level healthcare positions while meeting California Board of Pharmacy licensing requirements, which mandate participants be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma/GED for externship and licensure eligibility.
