The Department of Mathematics at Florida State University provides a Pure Mathematics graduate program for students pursuing Ph.D. or M.S. degrees in Mathematics. Faculty researchers specialize in diverse areas including Number Theory, Arithmetic Geometry, Algebraic Geometry, Geometric Topology, Algebraic Topology, Harmonic Analysis, and Complex Analysis. This program delivers comprehensive training in fundamental pure mathematics disciplines (algebra, real and complex analysis, and geometry/topology) while enabling focused study in cutting-edge research fields.

A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or a comparable degree from an international institution, with a minimum 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point average (GPA) in all coursework attempted while enrolled as an upper-division undergraduate student working towards a bachelor's degree

Effective Fall 2023, GRE is no longer required for PhD admissions in Department of Mathematics.
Currently, Florida State University has waived the GRE requirement for most MS programs, including the MS programs in Department of Mathematics.
