The Master of Arts in Teaching with a Secondary Mathematics focus is a 37-credit program designed to prepare students for 6-12 grade mathematics teaching certification. This program is ideal for individuals holding a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field (such as Engineering) who want to obtain Michigan teaching credentials. Upon completion, graduates will qualify for Michigan's Mathematics (EX) endorsement, enabling them to teach math in middle and high schools. Students in this program can access academic advising, scholarship opportunities, and activities through both the Mathematics & Statistics Department (within the College of Arts and Sciences) and the Teacher Education Department (in the College of Education), where the professional teaching courses are based.
