The LL.M. in Business Law welcomes both J.D. graduates and international legal professionals. This specialized program offers in-depth education in business law and finance, focusing on high-demand fields including regulatory compliance, corporate legal counsel, transactional practices, intricate business disputes, and financial oversight stemming from evolving regulations like the Dodd-Frank Act and cybersecurity developments. Every LL.M. candidate will be paired with a faculty advisor for personalized guidance. Our professors assist students in customizing their academic path based on individual career goals, prior education, and professional aspirations. An orientation session (required but not graded) will introduce participants to program expectations. All LL.M. candidates must fulfill a written thesis requirement. The degree requires completion of 24 credit hours, achievable through one year of full-time study or extended over three years part-time.
A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or a comparable degree from an international institution, with a minimum 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point average (GPA) in all coursework attempted while enrolled as an upper-division undergraduate student working towards a bachelor's degree; or A graduate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or a comparable degree from an international institution.
Any international applicant to the LL.M in American Law or the LL.M in Business Law who earned his or her first law degree outside the U.S. must obtain a minimum TOEFL score of 80 or a minimum IELTS score of 6.5. Applicants to the LL.M. in Environmental Law must obtain a minimum TOEFL score of 90 or a minimum IELTS score of 7.5.
