The Master of Fine Arts Theatre Management program aims to make a significant global impact on the arts. Students receive a thoughtfully designed education combining practical training and real-world experience within an active theater setting.
We strive to prepare emerging arts leaders with comprehensive knowledge across all areas of artistic production. The curriculum emphasizes cultivating leadership abilities while establishing expertise in management fundamentals, financial operations, promotional strategies, donor development, event coordination, and digital tools for arts administration. Following an innovative progression model that mirrors a student's professional evolution (both academically and experientially) from practitioner to administrator to visionary, our alumni emerge with robust training and transformative experiences, assuming leadership positions at arts institutions worldwide.
Though the academic content applies universally across artistic disciplines, our hands-on training involves directing and operating an actual community theater. The curriculum addresses essential competencies including effective communication, fiscal oversight, grant writing, legal agreements, production coordination, data analysis, personnel management, governance relations, promotional strategies, audience engagement, and outreach initiatives. Coursework provides both a panoramic view of American arts culture and fundamental skills for navigating contemporary arts administration.
