The Modern Languages Department provides a two-year Master's program in German studies. This program aims to immerse graduate students in key elements of contemporary German culture. Faculty members focus on equipping students with strong academic foundations while offering practical teaching opportunities. Graduates have successfully entered top-tier doctoral programs nationwide or embarked on professional paths at institutions like Chicago's Deutsche Schule or Karlsruhe's SAP. The German studies faculty and associates bring diverse expertise spanning: literary analysis from the 1700s onward, German philosophical traditions, intellectual history, Holocaust and human rights research, national identity studies, gender theory, performance and folk traditions, and cinematic arts. The program actively supports cross-disciplinary exploration, allowing students to engage with various academic fields.
