The J.D./M.S.W. dual-degree program, offered jointly by the College of Law and College of Social Work, allows students to pursue both degrees simultaneously. First-year law students interested in this pathway should consult with and submit required materials to the College of Law's joint program coordinator by May 1. The coordinator will then forward the complete application package to both colleges for review. Applicants who have already completed M.S.W. coursework or are beyond their first year of law studies must secure written authorization from the College of Law before applying to the joint program.
The Juris Doctor program spans three years, starting with fundamental legal studies before progressing to advanced theoretical and interdisciplinary coursework. The initial year establishes core knowledge in legal history, principles, procedures, and analytical methods essential for subsequent specialization. During the final two years, students enjoy extensive elective options across diverse subjects and teaching methodologies. The curriculum encompasses theoretical classes, industry-specific courses (including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and sports/entertainment law), plus practical learning experiences that prepare graduates for careers in business, government, and legal practice.
Applicants to the M.S.W. program must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and an upper division (junior and senior) grade point average of 3.0 or better.
