The Advanced Standing program offers face-to-face, hybrid, and online enrollment options. In the face-to-face format, AS is a full-time, one-year program (38 semester credit hours), starting in fall and concluding with coursework and field placements over two semesters. Hybrid and online AS students follow a part-time schedule, completing the program in two years. All advanced standing students must complete two field practicum courses (500 clock hours). Program plans for each enrollment model can be found under their respective tabs.
Macro Practice equips students for leadership roles in urban environments, addressing the complex needs of diverse, underserved populations. This specialization trains professionals to drive meaningful social change through community engagement, organizational development, and policy work. Graduates develop expertise for leadership positions as advocates, managers, researchers, and policy analysts across various societal levels.
The Individualized Specialization reflects GCSW's dedication to social justice and student flexibility. Participants design their own focus area within social work, choosing a specific population, social issue, or practice area not covered by existing specializations. Students craft their program by selecting relevant courses from GCSW and other disciplines, creating a tailored educational path.
