The College of Music serves as the central hub for numerous campus musical groups, including orchestras, bands, choirs, jazz ensembles, early music collectives, nine global music ensembles, and multiple chamber groups, alongside the Florida State Opera and Music Theater Program. Annually, the college presents approximately 350 performances and events while frequently organizing national conferences, masterclasses, and celebrations like the biennial Festival of New Music. Our distinguished history offers valuable insights into artistic standards and motivates our pursuit of ongoing distinction. However, our true measure lies in how we serve you—the aspiring musicians who will fill our practice rooms, lecture halls, and studios. We welcome learners at every stage who are committed to maximizing their professional growth. We look for individuals who will enrich Florida State's vibrant musical community and value our college's welcoming atmosphere. Florida State University has maintained accreditation with the National Association of Schools of Music since 1930.
