The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering provides diverse graduate programs for both Master's and PhD degrees in EE and Computer Engineering. Our faculty's broad knowledge fosters strong interdisciplinary links between these programs. Candidates can tailor their coursework to align with their academic passions and professional aspirations. Fulfill all institutional prerequisites for the doctoral program. A minimum of 75 credit hours must be completed post-bachelor's degree. Up to 30 credits from a Master's program in electrical or computer engineering, whether from FIU or another accredited university, can be applied toward the PhD requirements.

International graduate student applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit a score for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). A total score of 80 on the iBT TOEFL or 6.5 overall on the IELTS is required.
Credentials of all other applicants will be examined by the Graduate Admission Committee on a case by case basis. In addition to the departmental requirements, all students must satisfy the University's Graduate Policies and Procedures.
