The FIU Portuguese program enhances students' proficiency in speaking and writing the language, offering courses in Luso-Brazilian culture, literature, film studies, business communication, grammar, and public speaking. Students can participate in a voluntary Summer Study Abroad Program in Brazil to deepen their linguistic abilities and cultural understanding, along with pursuing a minor or certificate in Portuguese. Our program serves as an official Celpe-Bras Proficiency Exam testing site, recognized by Brazil's Ministry of Education. Graduates can explore diverse career paths in business, diplomacy, government, tourism, education, media, and international relations—whether in Florida (the top U.S. trade partner with Brazil), across the U.S. (home to many major Brazilian corporations), or internationally.
