The Russian language program provides courses from beginner to advanced levels (first through fourth year), along with classes in Russian literature, linguistics, and cultural studies. Russia boasts a distinctive cultural heritage that contrasts significantly with Western European traditions.
The Russian studies major focuses on contemporary global perspectives. Beyond academics, the program fosters community through weekly tea gatherings where students at all proficiency levels can socialize, enjoy games, and engage in casual Russian dialogue. The Russian Club organizes diverse interactive events. Study abroad programs are highly recommended for participants.
Like all liberal arts degrees, this major develops essential leadership competencies: effective communication, interpersonal awareness, analytical reasoning, innovative problem-solving, and synthesizing complex concepts.
