The program expands on Master's-level certification training, equipping students to qualify for independent practice licensure. Graduates can pursue careers and leadership positions across diverse environments such as educational institutions, mental health centers, family service organizations, pediatric healthcare facilities, vocational rehabilitation agencies, corporate training programs, juvenile detention centers, higher education institutions, and private practices. The curriculum fosters an ongoing dedication to academic inquiry and social justice advocacy. Designed as a cohesive, progressive curriculum, it incorporates adult learning theories to support professional development over time. Throughout the program, students examine normative development and cultural diversity within educational contexts, with particular emphasis on mastering these concepts before assessing systems, communities, classrooms, or individuals. The Problem-Solver approach is integrated throughout all academic and practical components, encouraging preventive, multi-tiered intervention strategies. These learning opportunities occur through coursework, embedded practicum requirements, independent field experiences, and a culminating 1,500-hour internship. Both university faculty and onsite supervisors provide regular feedback on competency development during each academic and practical component. Students are expected to implement this feedback in subsequent work to continually enhance the professional skills necessary for effective practice.
