The Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program equips nurses with advanced clinical skills for acute care environments, focusing on treating severely ill patients and those with complex chronic conditions across specialized fields like critical care, trauma surgery, and hospital medicine. This curriculum combines in-depth training in health assessment, diagnostic reasoning, pharmacotherapy, and acute illness management with specialized workshops led by seasoned practitioners. Coursework and hands-on training highlight both the physical and emotional effects of acute and chronic diseases on patients and their loved ones. Upon completion, graduates qualify to take the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification examination offered by either the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the AACN Certification Corporation.
