The Theological Studies program (TS) at Emory fosters innovative theological inquiry that embraces diversity while being deeply rooted in historical context. Our curriculum ensures students encounter varied methodologies, viewpoints, and theological texts. A distinguished faculty brings together peaceful, cross-disciplinary perspectives. Graduate research in systematic theology here engages thoughtfully with tradition while exploring Black and Caribbean theological perspectives, feminist/womanist/queer theologies, contemplative traditions, continental philosophy, ethical-literary intersections, and interfaith conversations. We encourage applications exploring additional theological domains. Our students benefit from interdisciplinary connections with Women's/Gender/Sexuality Studies, African/African-American Studies, Comparative Literature, the Loseling Institute, plus specializations in Religious Practices and Religion, Conflict, and Peacebuilding - all enhancing scholarly exploration.
