The Biology Department at Emory University provides a broad, comprehensive curriculum that introduces students to the latest biological theories and practices. Students can pursue either a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology, with detailed requirements outlined in the documents below. Choosing between these degrees depends on various considerations. In collaboration with the Institute of Quantitative Theory and Methods (QTM), we provide a Quantitative Sciences (QSS) major with a Biology specialization. Additionally, through the Program in Science, Culture, and Society, students can obtain a minor in this field.
After finishing the introductory biology courses, students are ready for higher-level studies in areas like cell and molecular biology, physiology, ecology, evolutionary biology, and other specialized disciplines. The program offers hands-on lab work, seminars, guided study, and research opportunities. Our curriculum equips students with the foundational knowledge needed for graduate studies or professional training after graduation.
