The Department of Allied Health Sciences provides a Bachelor of Science degree in radiologic science, with new cohorts starting each fall semester. Students must complete the program by attending specified consecutive terms. Graduates become eligible to sit for the ARRT certification exam to earn Registered Radiologic Technologist credentials. As medical imaging specialists, radiologic technologists conduct diagnostic imaging procedures that produce images for medical interpretation. Their expertise encompasses human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, disease processes, radiation safety protocols, and patient evaluation. These professionals are authorized to administer contrast agents and medications following regulatory guidelines while assisting physicians during complex medical interventions. Serving as crucial intermediaries between patients, doctors, and healthcare teams, radiologic technologists may also oversee equipment maintenance, implement quality control measures, deliver patient instruction, and perform administrative tasks within imaging departments. Career opportunities exist across various healthcare settings, including specialty hospitals, urgent care centers, private practices, as well as educational and managerial positions.
