The Bachelor of Fine Arts is regarded as the premier undergraduate professional degree for visual arts. This program enables students to focus on a specific artistic discipline or experiment across various studio fields to ready themselves for professional practice.
Before reaching 45 art credits but after completing 21 studio art credits, students must satisfactorily pass ARTA 2916 - BFA Portfolio Review. Successful completion of this review is mandatory for admission into the BFA capstone course, ARTA 4915 - Portfolio and Exhibit, Studio Art, and for earning the BFA degree. Candidates get just two attempts to pass the Portfolio Review course. BFA participants should note that their final advanced studio classes must primarily aim to create exhibition-worthy artwork. The Art and Design Department will showcase sample pieces during the compulsory BFA Capstone Exhibition to demonstrate student achievement.
