Our 111-credit doctoral program in School Psychology holds accreditation from the American Psychological Association (APA) and recognition from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). The comprehensive curriculum encompasses coursework, practical training, internships, and dissertation work. Successful completion grants students an M.S.Ed., Ph.D., Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) School Psychology Certification, and eligibility for Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology licensure. Beyond school-based practice, graduates qualify for independent psychology practice and academic positions, with many pursuing research-intensive careers. After degree completion and passing the Praxis School Psychology Exam, graduates can earn Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credentials. Duquesne University's Ph.D. program follows the scientist-practitioner model, preparing students to both conduct and apply psychological research while integrating clinical experience with scholarly inquiry. The program develops professional psychologists with expertise in research methods, psychological theory, and evidence-based interventions. Starting in the first semester, students participate in campus research teams and field placements, simultaneously developing research and clinical skills throughout their studies.
