The Anthropology Department at Drew University highlights the value of hands-on fieldwork and lab skills. Students pursuing the anthropology major, biological anthropology focus, or archaeology minor will gain practical training in specialized research techniques for each area (including ethnographic studies, archaeological digs, and lab analysis). Additionally, Drew provides numerous off-campus learning options—often incorporating ethnographic or social science research—and students are strongly encouraged to participate in these programs.
Examination of language structures (sounds, grammar, vocabulary) and exploration of connections between language groups (historical linguistics).
