Anthropology stands apart from other social sciences by examining humanity through a comprehensive lens, seeking to uncover the connections between culture, biology, history, and language. Our undergraduate program offers a robust four-field approach (encompassing biological, archaeological, cultural, and linguistic anthropology) with faculty expertise spanning diverse subject areas, methodologies, and theories to give students a firm foundation in anthropological thinking.
At the undergraduate level, our four-field curriculum incorporates studies in biological, archaeological, sociocultural, and linguistic anthropology. Students gain practical experience through hands-on training in archaeological and bioanthropological techniques. Additionally, undergraduates can pursue a specialized Concentration in one of six focus areas within the major.
This 12-credit concentration provides undergraduates with focused instruction in archaeological methods and theories. As one of anthropology's four primary sub-disciplines, archaeology delivers vital insights into ancient societies' development and history, offering essential context for comprehending contemporary global issues.
Cultural Resource Management (CRM) has traditionally utilized archaeologists with varying educational backgrounds in private sector roles for decades.
