At the University of Washington's Anthropology Department, students deeply examine core questions about human existence and societal structures. Our academic offerings for both bachelor's and advanced degrees focus on anthropology's core branches: archaeological studies, human biological evolution, and cultural anthropology. Learners benefit from state-of-the-art research facilities, domestic and international field programs, university-wide initiatives, and local community engagements. Department professors have earned prestigious honors and funding from institutions including the Guggenheim Fellowship, WHO, and the Ford Foundation.
Given anthropology's wide-ranging scope, graduates gain versatile career preparation. Our alumni pursue professions in medical fields, academic institutions, charitable organizations, corporate environments, and public service. The competencies students acquire—interpreting human interactions and bridging cultural divides—equip them for international leadership positions in various sectors.
