At OU's Department of Anthropology, students explore all aspects of humanity, examining the full scope of human life from ancient times to today. Undergraduates can choose courses across anthropology's four core disciplines: linguistic, sociocultural, archaeological, and biological anthropology. The department offers numerous hands-on learning experiences through fieldwork, lab work, and museum studies that bring classroom concepts to life. Opportunities include: 1. Participating in summer archaeological digs to master excavation methods, 2. Assisting professors in archaeology and biological anthropology laboratories, 3. Collaborating with faculty and indigenous communities to preserve Oklahoma's Native American languages, 4. Contributing to faculty-led health or medical anthropology research, 5. Volunteering at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History across various anthropology disciplines, 6. Completing internships in any anthropology specialization or museum studies.
