The Associate in Arts in Psychology for Transfer program at Diablo Valley College (DVC) offers students foundational knowledge in psychology as both a scientific discipline examining cognition, emotions, and actions, and as a practice-oriented field focused on addressing human challenges. This associate degree program satisfies lower-division prerequisites for psychology bachelor's degree programs within the CSU system while also meeting general education transfer requirements.
Psychology encompasses diverse specializations such as clinical practice, counseling services, developmental studies, forensic applications, social dynamics, cognitive processes, biological bases, and personality assessment. While many professional paths demand education beyond a two-year degree, this transfer program equips students for seamless transition into bachelor's psychology programs. Pursuing further education through transfer, bachelor's completion, and graduate studies can open doors to professions like clinical therapists, academic instructors, research scientists, organizational leaders, and corporate advisors.
