The DePaul oboe program adopts an integrated teaching philosophy, benefiting from its connection to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and commitment to upholding the finest artistic principles of the American oboe tradition. Our curriculum addresses diverse musical and technical aspects including tone development, pitch control, articulation techniques, vibrato mastery, and breath management. We aim to enhance technical proficiency on the instrument while simplifying reed-making processes, gouging techniques, and cane selection.
