The Bachelor of Arts in Music program is designed for students passionate about music who wish to combine it with another academic discipline outside the School of Music.
Completion requires 120 credit hours (including 45 at the junior/senior 300 level). Graduates must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA in major courses and a 2.0 overall average.
This degree provides comprehensive musical training while allowing students to complement their studies with any approved KU major or minor without exceeding standard credit requirements. Learners benefit from instruction by faculty with national and international reputations. The curriculum encompasses music theory, music history, private lessons, ensemble participation, chamber music, and culminates in a senior recital.
Graduates emerge as versatile candidates for diverse careers or advanced studies. Opportunities include graduate music programs, private teaching, ensemble auditions, or forging unique musical careers and ventures.
