Students pursuing the German Studies concentration enjoy significant flexibility in designing their course selections to match specific aspects of German culture, tailored to their academic passions or professional aspirations. For those pursuing dual majors, the German Studies concentration facilitates meaningful integration between both fields, enabling courses to potentially fulfill requirements for both majors simultaneously. Students minoring in German may also apply their concentration courses toward fulfilling learning domain requirements. Upon declaring the German major with a Studies concentration, students should consult with the German Program Director to explore possibilities for creating a customized academic path that aligns with their educational and career objectives. We strongly recommend students take advantage of the German program's study abroad opportunities: an extended Fall quarter or full-year program in Vienna, or a shorter, human rights-focused service-learning experience in Berlin and Vienna examining historical memory and contemporary refugee issues. These programs are cost-effective, with financial support available through DePaul's Study Abroad Office and the Department of Modern Languages.
