The Environmental Studies BA program offers students an integrated education encompassing natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. This interdisciplinary approach equips students to address current and future environmental challenges, preparing them for careers in environmental management, eco-focused nonprofits, or any profession requiring environmental awareness, while also laying the foundation for advanced studies. The program emphasizes examining humanity's relationship with nature. Within the sustainability specialization, students may opt for an urban sustainability track. Those pursuing sustainability studies will understand it as an evolving state shaped by interconnected physical, biological, economic, and social systems. The urban sustainability track enables students to grasp environmental economics, political frameworks, ethical considerations, design principles, and geographic factors crucial for maintaining ecological resources and social structures in cities, while also comprehending sustainable systems for managing urban water, land, air, and infrastructure across various scales.
