Today's world grapples with numerous environmental challenges - ranging from polluted air and water to declining biodiversity, urban expansion, and climate change. These are worldwide concerns: environmental policies and conservation efforts in one nation impact all others.
While scientific methods are essential for addressing these problems, they aren't sufficient by themselves. We must also consider the intricate social, cultural, economic, and political elements that shape how societies perceive and implement solutions. Tackling climate change, for example, first demands societal recognition of these environmental threats. Communities must be thoroughly informed about and committed to technological solutions, otherwise the consequences of environmental damage disproportionately affect disadvantaged, less educated, and less organized populations. The world requires visionary leaders capable of developing and executing societal approaches to environmental and sustainability challenges.
The Environmental Studies and Sustainability undergraduate program is designed for students seeking to examine modern environmental concerns through a humanities lens. Graduates will gain comprehensive knowledge in international relations and foreign languages, enabling them to engage in global discussions and assist diverse populations in comprehending environmental matters.
