The Classical Archaeology concentration offers in-depth engagement with Greek and Roman material culture, featuring study of significant archaeological sites and museum collections in Greece and Italy. Students gain methodological training in archaeology while exploring artifacts from prehistoric Greece to the late Roman Empire. Many courses incorporate practical work at Dartmouth's Hood Museum and visits to other North American museums. The department strongly encourages archaeology concentrators to seek funding for participating in excavation projects during academic breaks.
