The program aims to give students comprehensive knowledge of ecological and evolutionary concepts and research methods, mainly through seminars and structured coursework, along with specialized focus in specific areas (typically directed by the student's Special Committee). Each student's curriculum is customized to their individual goals. State-of-the-art laboratory facilities, nearby field sites, extensive collections, and library resources are accessible. Teaching experience is mandatory, requiring all students to work as teaching assistants for a minimum of two semesters. Prospective graduate students are encouraged to reach out to the graduate field office or faculty members with questions. The Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Graduate Program offers diverse opportunities to investigate biological diversity—its origins, preservation, and impacts. Student research explores core questions in both theoretical and applied sciences, covering various scales of time and space while employing experimental, observational, theoretical, statistical, molecular, and chemical techniques. Some participants concentrate on Discipline-Based Education Research, creating data-driven strategies to enhance STEM teaching and learning.
Students are accepted from a range of undergraduate majors from the natural sciences, physical sciences, mathematics and humanities.
