The environmental policy studies field examines challenges in environmental decision-making during periods of significant institutional and societal transformation. This growing area of importance affects numerous aspects of contemporary life, and we aim to equip students in this discipline with the skills to make meaningful contributions in their professional endeavors. The program emphasizes advancing knowledge about environmental decision processes within the context of policy development and program execution. Special focus is placed on: (a) the diverse entities engaged in these processes, typically including government bodies, non-governmental citizen groups, and commercial enterprises; (b) the accessibility and practical application of environmental data for these stakeholders; and (c) the inclusive involvement of all knowledgeable parties in environmental policy decisions. This three-part framework of institutions, data, and stakeholder engagement shapes student curricula and highlights key areas for academic research by both students and faculty.
