Infectious disease epidemiology examines the emergence and transmission patterns of illnesses across populations, along with methods to control or stop their spread. Those enrolled in our Infectious Disease Epidemiology program investigate the biological aspects of viruses, bacteria, and parasites, including insect carriers like ticks and mosquitoes that spread diseases. The curriculum covers statistical techniques for evaluating disease data and transmission models, alongside scientifically validated prevention strategies. Students understand that human, plant, animal, and environmental factors—such as climate and water—are interconnected in disease studies. This One Health philosophy equips graduates to tackle health issues holistically, recognizing that safeguarding ecosystems and natural resources is key to preventing zoonotic disease outbreaks.
