Cornell CALS' MPS program is perfect for students seeking a career-oriented education that delves deeply into innovations and challenges across life, environmental, and social sciences as well as agriculture. While maintaining academic rigor comparable to a Master of Science (MS), the MPS differs in its approach and emphasis. An MS typically involves multi-year thesis research, whereas the MPS is a one-year, coursework-focused program exploring complex questions within a chosen discipline. Rather than a thesis, MPS candidates undertake a capstone project in their last semester. For a more detailed comparison, check our FAQ section. At Cornell CALS, the MPS covers diverse agricultural and life science disciplines such as animal science, food science, global development, horticulture, plant and soil science, and biological and environmental engineering, among others.
Applicants to two-year program should hold a bachelor's degree in architecture or landscape architecture from a recognized institution. Applicants with a bachelor's degree in an area other than architecture or landscape architecture should apply to the three-year program.
