Students can obtain a certificate of achievement by successfully completing all required courses for this major with a minimum grade of C. Journalists investigate and report on significant topics and occurrences for public awareness. They collect data through research, direct observation, and interviews with knowledgeable sources. After gathering information, they analyze it to determine the narrative angle and presentation format. The final step involves writing, producing, editing, and delivering the content to audiences. CCC's journalism program provides all students with practical experience at The Advocate, our student-operated weekly newspaper, and its online counterpart, cccadvocate.com. As a journalism student at CCC, you'll gain real-world experience in an active newsroom environment, where students report on events, capture images, compose and refine articles, handle social media, produce multimedia content for digital platforms, and perform all standard newsroom functions.
