The History Department provides an extensive PhD program covering nearly all regions and eras of global history. Students benefit from diverse academic pathways, allowing them to specialize in their chosen discipline while developing broad comparative perspectives across related fields. Graduates of the PhD program go on to teach at leading universities worldwide or pursue careers in government, publishing, and other history-related professions. Specializations span Africa, Ancient civilizations, the Atlantic World, Early Modern Europe (1350-1750), East Asia, Sociomedical Sciences, International and Global History, Jewish History, Latin America, Medieval Europe, the Middle East, Modern Europe, South Asia, and the United States.
Applicant must have bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States or its equivalent from another country.
English Language Requirement
Applicant must have minimum TOEFL internet based test score of 100 (or 600 paper based) and IELTS band score of 7.5
