The Department's main objectives are first to help students achieve proficiency in both spoken and written French, and second to introduce them to the literary and cultural traditions of France and other French-speaking nations. A key secondary aim is motivating students to pursue educational opportunities in France or other Francophone regions.

Concerning language skills, our specific objectives include:

Helping students communicate effectively on diverse subjects with reasonable fluency and precision.
Enhancing their ability to understand various French-language materials, including literary works and media content.
Building students' confidence in their capacity to adapt to academic and daily life in French-speaking environments.

Qualification Requirements

High school transcripts, secondary school records, or GED/TASC test results are required from any student with less than 30 earned college course credits.
Applicants with a GED or TASC and two or more years of high school are required to submit their high school transcripts.

TOEFL PBT - overall score of 600 or better.
