The Department of Forest and Rangeland Stewardship brings together forestry experts, range ecologists, water specialists, and social researchers who examine natural ecological systems and their connections with human activities.
Our rangeland ecosystem science program focuses on cross-disciplinary learning and investigation of global rangeland environments. Students gain comprehensive understanding of rangeland ecosystem composition, functioning, and conservation practices. The program delivers exceptional training in rangeland ecology and associated fields, advances understanding through academic research, and shares knowledge with professionals, the general public, and local communities via outreach initiatives. Within this program, students explore topics like plant-soil interactions, ecosystem rehabilitation, streamside ecology, livestock grazing systems, invasive species control, and participatory resource governance. Working closely with faculty advisors, students create customized study plans aligned with their academic background, research objectives, career aspirations, and personal interests.
