The Water Resources Planning and Management Division stands out by bridging civil engineering's water-related fields—hydrology, hydraulics, groundwater, and environmental engineering—with cross-disciplinary approaches in economics, water law, natural sciences, mathematics, statistics, computer science, and decision science. This integration enables advanced graduate education and collaborative research in water resource planning and management. With a focus on decision-making, the WRPM Division prioritizes applying cutting-edge computational tools, decision support systems, GIS, mathematical modeling, and AI to address water and environmental challenges. These methodologies tackle multifaceted problems involving multi-facility, multi-purpose systems that demand integrated strategies for water supply, hydropower, flood mitigation, irrigation, wastewater treatment, water quality preservation, ecosystem restoration, and combined groundwater-surface water utilization.
